What does a string quartet cost for a wedding in Denver?

How much space does a string quartet need?

A level spot about ten feet across and eight deep, four seats without arms, and shade or cover outdoors. The musicians bring their own stands and music, and indoors nothing is plugged in. One violinist fits in a corner about four feet across.

Can a string quartet play outdoors?

Yes, with shade, cover from rain and level ground, because a violin can't sit in direct sun or get wet. Cold matters too, since strings drift and fingers slow down once the temperature drops into the fifties, so for a mountain ceremony we agree a plan for moving under cover with you ahead of time.

How loud is a string quartet?

About as loud as a conversation at the next table. Indoors it plays a prelude, a processional and a cocktail hour with nothing plugged in, and the front table keeps talking. Outdoors, or in a hall where the back has to hear the officiant, a small sound system on one standard outlet carries the strings and a microphone, and the musicians set the level to the space.

Yes. Custom arrangements are part of the booking, so a song that isn't on the list can be written out for the size you book, one violin or four. Send the title with the date, and a recording of the version you mean if there's more than one.

Who plays a classical strings booking?

Working string players from our roster, and we name them to you when the contract is written. You book the size, one violinist to the quartet, and the same players cover the ceremony and the cocktail hour.
