Yes. A certificate of insurance naming your venue as additional insured, a W-9 and one itemised invoice come in the same email as the contract, which is usually what a business office needs to set up a vendor before the first date.

Do you play outdoors, at a market or in a park?

Yes, on three conditions written down before the day: a covered, level and dry performance area, power run to it or a battery-powered system agreed in advance, and a move-indoors or rain call agreed with the coordinator. The evening rules mostly still hold: the music sits at a level people talk across, the footprint is a corner, and one contract covers the date. What changes during the day is who is listening and why.

Senior living and memory care: An activity director books a musician for the residents of an assisted living, memory care or independent living community, usually on a weekday afternoon and usually as a standing date. The set is the standards and the Great American Songbook on upright bass and guitar, or one singer with a guitar working the decades the residents grew up with, played in the common area at 65 to 72 dBA at the nearest seat. Funerals, memorial services and celebrations of life: A guitarist for the prelude and the one song at a funeral or a memorial service, a pianist where the chapel has a piano, and a jazz duo through the reception or the celebration of life afterward. What a daytime booking involves.

Daytime venues are rarely built for music, and that’s fine, because the sizes that play these bookings don’t need them to be. Here it is in one place, written to be forwarded to whoever signs off.

Space: A solo sets up in 6 by 4 feet and a duo in 8 by 6, on the floor of a common area, a dining hall, a chapel or a patio, with no stage. A sound bath needs enough floor for everyone to lie down.
Power: One dedicated 20-amp circuit within reach of the setup. Outdoors, where there’s no power, a guitarist plays on a battery-powered system or none at all.
Load-in: 45 minutes for a solo and an hour for a duo, before the program starts, and 30 to 45 minutes to pack up afterward. A sound bath sets up about ninety minutes ahead of doors.
Volume: 65 to 72 dBA at the nearest seat, which is the level of a conversation. Sets run 45 to 60 minutes with music through the breaks, and in a small space the guitar plays without amplification at all.
