Halloween party

Live music and a DJ for your Halloween party.

Halloween is the one party of the year where everyone arrives as somebody else, and a floor fills faster than at any other party at home because nobody is shy behind a mask. The music that fits it is a DJ playing the songs a costume crowd wants, a party band playing the hits, or live band karaoke, where the band plays the song and hands the microphone to whoever came dressed as Freddie Mercury. Any of the three comes with sound support that’s the right size for the house, one contract, and one personal contact in charge of the music for the night.

A Halloween party is part of our private parties bookings, and in 2026 the date does the planning for you: Halloween falls on Saturday, October 31, so the whole city parties on the same night, and the Saturday before it, October 24, is the other one. Send us whichever date is yours and we’ll check the booking calendar and come back with a configuration and a price for that night.

Hear it

A band on a floor, playing the songs everyone knows.

Tony Medina playing Purple Rain to a full floor at a milestone party, and Drive as the party set. It’s the band we recommend when a Halloween party wants live players rather than a DJ.

The configurations

A DJ, a party band, or the band that hands over the microphone.

A Halloween party is a floor first and a dinner second, if it’s a dinner at all, so these are the three configurations a house books for it, in the order hosts ask.

The DJ
The usual first question, and the easiest one for a house: a DJ sets up in 6 by 4 feet on one dedicated circuit, loads in over 45 minutes, and plays the songs a costume crowd wants, built around the decade your guests grew up in. Tell us the crowd and the songs that have to happen, and the set is built for that party. The DJ can also take the late end of a night after a band, through the same sound system on the same contract.
The party band
A trio or a quartet playing the hits to a floor with no stage in it. Tony Medina plays it up to a four piece, the blues and the rock and roll that came out of it, and Tejas Singh plays a quartet built from the songs everyone in the house knows. A trio takes 12 by 8 feet on one circuit and a quartet 14 by 10 on two, and either can play the early part of the night at a volume people talk across before the floor turns.
Live band karaoke
The band plays the 80s and 90s hits on its own, sung out front, and hands the microphone to anyone in costume who wants a song, with the words on a screen and a host keeping a sign-up list on paper, so nobody has to sing for the night to work. Queen, Prince, Madonna and Bon Jovi are in the book. The four-piece with its host and two lyric screens takes 14 by 10 feet, two dedicated circuits and a 90-minute load-in, which means a big main floor, a finished basement or a garage with the cars out. The live band karaoke page covers how a guest gets to the microphone.

What live music costs in this market is on the pricing page; what a DJ costs in Denver and band or DJ each have a post of their own.

Ideas

Halloween party entertainment ideas for adults.

The ideas we can actually put in a house on a Saturday in October, each with the page that covers it.

Karaoke in costume, with a real band behind it
The idea that turns a Halloween party into the one people tell stories about, because the person dressed as Prince is going to sing Prince, and the band is ready the moment somebody gets brave. The host keeps the sign-up list on paper, the crowd gets through six to ten songs an hour, and the band plays the same book as a party band whenever nobody is up. It needs the floor space of a big main floor or a garage. The live band karaoke page covers the songbook and the microphone.
A DJ set built around one decade
Pick the decade your guests grew up in and the DJ builds the night around it, with the songs that have to happen placed where you want them. It’s the smallest setup a party can book, a booth in 6 by 4 feet, and it runs as late as the house allows.
A costume contest run from the microphone
Every booking can come with an announcement microphone, so the host or whoever is judging can run the contest from the band’s sound system rather than shouting over it, and the band or the DJ plays the winner on.
A grown-up Halloween dinner before the party
Some houses do a seated dinner in costume first and open the doors to the bigger crowd after. Upright bass and guitar play the dinner at a volume the table talks across, and the same night can turn into the band or the DJ later. The private parties page covers the dinner party on its own.
The office Halloween party
The Friday-before version at work books the same three configurations, and the corporate page covers how a band works around a program and what a venue needs to know.

At home

What the house needs to provide on Halloween.

A Halloween party runs late and loud, and the loud part of any home party belongs indoors once the neighbors have gone to bed, which is why the floor for this one is usually a finished basement, a garage with the cars out, or the main floor with the doors shut. A DJ takes 6 by 4 feet on one dedicated circuit, a trio 12 by 8 on one, and a quartet or the karaoke four-piece 14 by 10 on two, and none of them want to share a circuit with the fog machine and the string lights, so tell us where the decorations are plugged in before the night. If your street or HOA has quiet hours in writing, give them to us at contract and the night gets built under them.

Load-in is a parking question on a night when every house on the block has guests, so tell us about the driveway or the alley and which door is ours. Sets run 45 to 60 minutes with music through the breaks, so the party never goes quiet. The full house ask, from power to parking, is on the Denver private parties page, and footprints by size are on the technical page.

Questions

Asked about Halloween parties.

Do you have a DJ for a Halloween party?
Yes. A DJ is the usual first question for a Halloween party, and it's the easiest one for a house: a booth in 6 by 4 feet on one dedicated circuit, a 45-minute load-in, and a set built around the decade your guests grew up in with the songs that have to happen placed where you want them. It's one contract with sound support sized to the house, and the same DJ can take the late end of a night after a band.
What does a DJ or a band for a Halloween party cost?
What live music costs in this market is set out on our pricing page, and two posts cover the two halves of this question: what a DJ costs in Denver, and whether a band or a DJ is the right call for the night. Send us the date and a sentence about the house and we'll come back with a configuration and a price for that night rather than a range.
Is live band karaoke a good Halloween party idea?
It's the one people tell stories about afterward. The band plays the 80s and 90s hits on its own, sung out front, and hands the microphone to anyone in costume who wants a song, with the words on a screen and a host keeping a sign-up list on paper, so nobody has to sing for the night to work and the crowd gets through six to ten songs an hour. The four-piece with its host and two lyric screens takes 14 by 10 feet and two dedicated circuits, so it wants a big main floor, a finished basement or a garage with the cars out.
When is Halloween 2026, and how far ahead should we book?
Halloween 2026 falls on Saturday, October 31, so the whole city parties on the same night, and the Saturday before it, October 24, is the other night people throw the party. Send us whichever date is yours as soon as you have it, and we'll check the booking calendar and come back with a configuration and a price for that night.
Will the band or the DJ play in costume?
Ask us with the booking. The musicians decide what they wear, and a themed set, the songs that belong to the night, is a request we take with the date. What every booking includes regardless is an announcement microphone, so a costume contest can be run from the band's sound system rather than over it.
How late can a Halloween party at home run with live music?
The loud part of any home party belongs indoors once the neighbors have gone to bed, and the rules vary by street and by HOA, so we don't quote an ordinance. The planning fact is enough: a Halloween party runs late, so its floor is usually a finished basement, a garage with the cars out, or the main floor with the doors shut. If your street or HOA has quiet hours in writing, give them to us at contract and the night gets built under them.
How much space does a Halloween party band need?
A DJ takes 6 by 4 feet on one dedicated circuit, a trio 12 by 8 on one, and a quartet or the live band karaoke four-piece 14 by 10 on two, and none of them want to share a circuit with the fog machine and the string lights. Sets run 45 to 60 minutes with music through the breaks, so the party never goes quiet. Footprints for every size are on the technical page.
Do you play office Halloween parties?
Yes. The Friday-before version at work books the same three configurations, a DJ, a party band or live band karaoke, and the corporate page covers how a band works around a program and what a venue needs to know.

Send us the date and a sentence about the house, and we'll recommend the DJ, the band or the karaoke band for it.
